We need your help! Make a tax deductible donation to CARRQ today!!
We need to raise money to continue the fight to protect West Sonoma County’s rural land. We are represented pro bono by a San Francisco law firm, but we must raise money to pay for documentation and other court expenses. We are working to secure tax exempt status from the IRS. Until we receive that, make your tax deductible donations to our fiscal sponsor, the Paula Lane Action Network (P.L.A.N.) Make your tax deductible donation by check to P.L.A.N. In the same
vote, the County supervisors also approved a controversial move to allow required
mitigation of endangered amphibious species, California Tiger Salamander and
California Red-legged frog, on land already protected and preserved by the Open
Space District, for which the quarry developer was paid $2.3 million by county
taxpayers. CARRQ maintains this approval allows the developer to avoid significant
mitigation costs in the realm of $5 to $15 million by using public land for
private, commercial profit. Please view the following articles, one by a
nationally recognized open space expert "Open Space Guest Opinion"
and another by a local ranching family with open space protected land
"Habitat Proposal", to see first hand the wide base of opposition
that exists to the County's vote.
CARRQ filed suit against the County Board of Supervisors and quarry owners John
and Andrea Barella in Superior Court over the quarry approval on January 13, 2011 under the
California Environmental Quality Act. We also filed suit against Sonoma County and the County of Sonoma Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District's approval of the open space mitigation preserve on publicly protected Roblar Ranch.
& Now Who We Are
We are a group
of Sonoma County residents who are concerned about the rural land use in the
county. There are a number of private projects that are for profit
ventures that endanger the environment and create potential fiscal costs to
Sonoma County taxpayers.
We encourage you to
investigate our site to understand the issues that you might be paying for in
future taxes!
We also encourage you to write to your
supervisors, state and federal legislators about land use in Sonoma County.
